Conversion Chart Maker — Custom Unit Conversion Tables, Instantly

Conversion Chart Maker is a free browser tool that builds a reference table for any two units — cups to grams, Celsius to Fahrenheit, cm to inches, kg to stones. Pick the two units and a full chart appears, not a single answer. Set your own start, end and step, then copy it into a spreadsheet or save it as an image you can print. Everything is worked out on your device: no upload, no account, no sign-up.

Pick a unit to convert from and a unit to convert to, and the chart above fills in straight away. If you cross volume and weight — cups to grams, say — a third dropdown appears so you can name the ingredient. Tap Customize range to change where the chart starts, where it ends, and how big each step is.

Two taps and your chart is on screen.

What this conversion chart maker does

Most converters answer one number at a time. That is fine when you have one number. It is the wrong shape when you are reading a recipe with six measurements in it, checking a pattern against a tape measure, or standing at an oven with a recipe that needs a temperature conversion chart from Celsius to Fahrenheit.

A conversion chart answers all of them at once, and it keeps answering after you put the phone down. This tool builds one for any pair of units it can reach, in the range you choose, and gives it back to you as a table you can copy or an image you can print and stick inside a cupboard door.

How to make a conversion chart

  1. Open capsuletools.app/conversion-chart-generator/
  2. Tap Convert from and choose your starting unit. The list is searchable — type tbsp, cm or even farenheit and it will find it.
  3. Tap Convert to. It only offers units that can actually be reached from the first one, so you cannot build a nonsense chart.
  4. The table appears immediately, ten rows by default.
  5. Tap Copy chart for tab-separated text, or Save as image for a printable PNG.

Converting cups to grams (and other baking ingredients)

Cups measure volume. Grams measure weight. There is no single conversion between them, which is why a generic cups to grams calculator that ignores the ingredient is guessing: a cup of flour is 120 g and a cup of honey is 336 g, nearly three times heavier.

So when you pair a volume unit with a weight unit, a third dropdown appears and asks what is in the cup — giving you a flour cups to grams chart, or a sugar one, or a butter one. Twenty-nine common baking ingredients are built in, each carrying a published density:

Ingredient1 US cup
Flour, all-purpose / bread / cake120 g
Flour, whole wheat113 g
Sugar, granulated198 g
Sugar, brown (packed)213 g
Sugar, confectioners'113 g
Butter227 g
Water237 g
Milk, whole244 g
Honey336 g
Cocoa powder85 g
Oats, rolled89 g
Chocolate chips170 g

The gram weights follow King Arthur Baking's ingredient weight chart, which is the standard most US recipes and most published cups to grams charts for baking already agree with. Plain liquids use their real measured density instead, because rounding water to the American 8 oz convention would put a visible error in the row people check most. It works in reverse too — pick Grams and then Cups for a baking conversion chart from grams to cups.

Customizing your chart's range and step size

The default range suits most jobs, but it is only a default. Tap Customize range and set three things: the first value, the last value, and the step between rows.

Change the units and the range resets to sensible defaults — until you edit it yourself, after which it stays put. Charts stop at 200 rows; if you ask for more, raise the step instead. Temperature charts refuse to go below absolute zero, so a start of −500 °C quietly becomes −273.15 °C rather than printing physics that does not exist.

Printing, saving, and copying your chart

Save as image draws the chart fresh on a white background at print resolution — large type, two clean columns, no interface furniture — and downloads a printable conversion chart named after the two units. It behaves the same whichever chart you built: for cooking, cm to inches, metric to imperial, or kg to stones and lbs. Print it as a printable kitchen conversion chart for the fridge, or drop it into a message.

Copy chart puts the same table on your clipboard as tab-separated text. Paste it into Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets and it lands as two proper columns, ready to be styled or extended.

Units and ingredients supported

Fifty-three units across seven kinds of measurement, with US and UK volumes kept separate because they are not the same:

Every factor is the exact defined value where one exists — an inch is exactly 2.54 cm, a pound is exactly 453.59237 g — so the arithmetic is not an approximation. Only the ingredient densities are measured figures, because flour genuinely varies with how you scoop it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert cups to grams?

Set Convert from to Cups (US) and Convert to to Grams, then pick your ingredient from the dropdown that appears. A cup is a measure of volume and a gram is a measure of weight, so the answer depends entirely on what is in the cup — the tool multiplies by that ingredient's density and prints a full chart from 1 cup to 10 cups.

How many grams are in a cup of flour?

One US cup of all-purpose flour is 120 grams, the King Arthur Baking standard this tool uses. Bread flour and cake flour are also 120 g per cup, whole wheat is 113 g, and almond flour is 96 g. Choose the exact flour in the Ingredient dropdown and the whole chart updates.

How many grams are in a cup of sugar or butter?

One US cup of granulated sugar is 198 grams, packed brown sugar is 213 grams, confectioners' sugar is 113 grams, and butter is 227 grams. Pick the one you need in the Ingredient dropdown to get a chart covering every quantity your recipe calls for.

How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?

The formula is F = C × 9/5 + 32, but a chart is faster than doing it per number. Celsius to Fahrenheit is what the tool opens on: it prints 0 °C to 45 °C in steps of 5. For oven temperatures, tap Customize range and set 100 to 250 with a step of 25.

How do I convert cm to inches?

One inch is exactly 2.54 cm, so 1 cm is about 0.3937 inches. Choose Centimeters and Inches and the chart lists every value in your range at once, which is more useful than a single conversion when you are reading a sewing pattern or a furniture spec.

How do I convert metric to imperial measurements?

Pick the metric unit on top and the imperial one underneath — the tool covers length, weight, volume, area and speed, in both US and UK measures. Volume in particular is not interchangeable: a UK pint is 568 ml while a US pint is 473 ml, so both are listed separately rather than merged.

How do I convert kg to stones and pounds?

One kilogram is about 2.2046 pounds, and one stone is 14 pounds, so a kilogram is roughly 0.157 stone. Build a Kilograms to Stone chart for the range you care about, or a Kilograms to Pounds one — set the range to something like 40 to 120 in steps of 2 to cover a realistic body weight.

Can I print or save the conversion chart?

Yes. Save as image writes a clean PNG of the chart — white background, large type, no interface around it — which prints well and can be pinned inside a cupboard door or shared in a message. Copy chart puts the same table on your clipboard as tab-separated text, which pastes straight into a spreadsheet.
